J.M. McKellar Cattle Co. is a Registered Angus ranch near Mount Pleasant, Texas. We have been in the cattle business for over 20 years, and started our Registered Angus herd in 2002. Our original cow herd was purchased from Connealy Angus in Whitman, Nebraska. These cattle are sound, fertile, and deep ribbed. They offer great phenotype, progressive carcass genetics and outstanding performance. We continue to improve our herd by use of breed leading A.I. sires.
Our priorities in our breeding program are the same as those of the commercial cattleman. These priorities are fertility, calving ease, growth, milking ability, and carcass quality. We continually cull hard for productive traits within our cow herd, while also realizing the crucial importance of maintaining progressive carcass genetics. Also, we are committed to identifying the best "cow families" within our herd of over 300 mother cows. We believe a cow should be able to "do it all."
